McDonald’s Unveils Big Updates – Public Reaction Is Negative
“If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it” was a Twitter user’s reaction to the latest news from McDonald’s. Some weeks ago, the popular fast-food chain announced significant changes to its recipes.
But many customers are far from pleased with the unexpected decision. The most incensed customers have promised never to set foot in a McDonald’s restaurant. Are the changes serious enough to spark this degree of backlash?
McDonald’s Wants to Tweak Its Burger Recipes
Some top-performing McDonald’s burgers will produce a different taste in the coming days. Mcdonald’s expects the new changes to give their burgers a better flavor than they used to have.
But that’s just an intention. Whether their plan will achieve the desired results is mostly up to your taste buds.
There Will Be Softer Buns, Better Melted Cheese, and More Sauce
Changes have already begun in selected cities across the country. The reaction from customers in these cities, such as Phoenix, Denver, Boise, Los Angeles, Portland, San Francisco, and Seattle is key.
The brand still has till next year to decide whether to adopt these changes across the board. In these cities, Big Macs and the McDouble cheese will have softer buns, stay hotter and melted cheese for longer, and come with more sauce.
But the Onions Seems to be Stirring the Biggest Controversy
In addition, McDonald’s has decided to try a new trick with onions. The restaurant will add white onions to its burger patties before they leave the grill.
Some customers who aren’t quite on good terms with onions don’t find this new plan any bit amusing. Another Twitter user has vowed never to eat McDonald’s anymore. @Jhellraiser doesn’t know why the restaurant thinks that everyone likes onions.
Is McDonald’s Taking Away the Customer’s Right to Choose?
This new onion policy makes onions a compulsory ingredient for burger lovers, which unfortunately has led to McDonald’s losing a marked percentage of its customers. Now, onion-intolerant customers cannot enjoy onion-free burgers, even when they order plain burgers.
As the uproar gets louder, it is interesting to see how McDonald’s responds. They might be more likely to side with the onion lovers who are clearly in the majority, but as always, only time will tell.
